About Us

OUR STORY

The 21st Century Accountability Project was founded to ensure Internal Accountability and address Issue Advocacy.

The 21st Century Accountability Project was founded to ensure that National Civil Rights Organizations (NCRO) uphold their own Constitutions and Bylaws, protecting their members from internal abuses, misconduct, and unfair treatment. Too often, these organizations—created to defend civil rights—fail to provide due process to their own members, silencing voices and undermining the principles they claim to uphold.

Our mission is to hold NCRO accountabledemand transparency, and safeguard the rights of those within these organizations who seek fairness, justice, and integrity.

Our mission is twofold:

  1. Internal Accountability – We advocate for transparency and adherence to the founding principles of NCROs, ensuring that their leadership remains committed to protecting the rights of marginalized individuals.

  2. Issue Advocacy – We work to highlight and address societal violations of civil and moral rights, with a particular focus on injustices faced by Black communities across America.

Why We Exist

Throughout history, civil rights organizations have played a crucial role in advancing justice and equality. However, as times change, so do the challenges these organizations face. Some leadership structures have become bureaucratic and unresponsive to the very people they are meant to serve. Our project steps in to hold these organizations accountable—ensuring that their resources, influence, and leadership are effectively used for meaningful advocacy.
